The Sundarban: the largest mangrove forest in the world


 More than two third of the Sundarban is in Bangladesh and rest of the part is in West Bengal state of India. The whole area covered about 20,400 square kilometers. Sundarban is the biggest mangrove forest in the world. A big number of trees, animals are found in here. Many rivers go through the forest after they are created by the Bay-of-Bengal. The rivers inside the forest are full of fishes. And also the crocodiles are not so rare.

But the main attraction of Sundarban is always the Royal Bengal Tiger, the supreme hunter of the forest.

  And the beautiful deer which is locally called as "Chitra horin". These deers like to live in groups but also frequently affected by Tiger or Lion and also by the Crocodiles when the go for the water.

Many people are dependent on this forest to live their life. The fishermen go to catch fish in rivers inside the forest and often killed by the Tiger or other animal. The people who collect honey from the forest are locally called as "mouyal".

The main tree for which the forest named Sundar(beautiful)-ban(forest), is the Sundori tree.
